The SNP has welcomed the financial package outlined today by the Chancellor – and has pledged to continue working to protect people’s jobs and incomes.
Earlier, Ian Blackford (pictured) met with Boris Johnson to outline the SNP’s five-point plan to ensure everyone has a guaranteed income, introduce a Statutory Retention Pay Scheme, increase Universal Credit and Child Benefit, and raise UK Statutory Sick Pay to the EU national average.
Commenting, SNP Westminster Leader Ian Blackford MP said:
“I welcome the measures announced by the Chancellor.
“While they do not go as far as we would have liked they will provide significant support to protect people’s jobs and incomes – and meet a number of the key areas we discussed with the Prime Minister.
“The SNP will continue to press the UK government to deliver more support for all our people so no one is left behind.
“In particular, we will seek further support for the self-employed, improved sick pay, and strengthened welfare protection for everyone.
“This is an unprecedented crisis – we must do everything we can to ensure that everyone has a guaranteed income and no one is left struggling to get by.”
