Director of Public Health and Policy Appointed

Dr Tim Allison (pictured) has today (01 July) taken up the post of Director of Public Health and Policy for NHS Highland

Tim was previously Director of Public Health in the East Riding of Yorkshire, working both within local government and the NHS and was an Honorary Secretary of the Association of Directors of Public Health (UK).

He has worked in epidemiological research and as a hospital doctor and studied medicine in Cardiff and Cambridge where he also studied Anglo-Saxon Norse and Celtic.

His professional interests include musculoskeletal disease, coastal health and physical activity and he has run recreational public health cycling events.

“I am delighted to welcome Tim to NHS Highland. He will bring a wealth of experience to the role and I am very much looking forward to working him, at a time when Public Health is at the forefront of our priorities as a result of the ongoing impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic.

“I would also like to thank Dr Ken Oates who stepped in as Interim Director of Public Health and has helped guide us through what has been one of the most challenging times for our Public Health team and for our wider organisation and our communities.”
