Nairn Bar & Restaurant Welcoming Punters Back With Music Video

The Bandstand Bar & Restaurant in Nairn has taken a rather unusual approach to welcoming back its regulars as lockdown is relaxed this weekend.

Nestled on the links in the delightful seaside town of Nairn, this cosy gastropub is a popular and lively community hub normally hosting live music and not one, but two, annual beer and music festivals.

Just before Lockdown the popular local bar had an amazing line up of local musical talent planned for the Bandstand Beer Festival in May which was sadly cancelled.

The Bandstand in association with Rockaway Productions has created a fantastic music video and audio track starring local musicians who sing ‘You are the champions of Nairn’ (to the Queen song We Are The Champions) to thank key workers and businesses of Nairn which aired on their Facebook page on Sunday at 5.30pm, just after the final clap for the NHS.

Paul Geddes owner of the Bandstand Bar said:

“Many of our locals are nurses, paramedics, carers, posties and teachers.

“The kind of folk that have kept us all going during lockdown.

“We wanted to show our appreciation and our ongoing support and gratitude for all they’ve done to keep us safe and well.

“We also wanted to thank all the local businesses in Nairn who have remained open throughout the lockdown providing essential services and produce.”

Paul added:

“This project started life as a bit of creative fun, but it became clear that with the talent of our local musicians and technical wizardry we’d be able to produce something very special.

“We would love it if everyone who enjoyed the video and music donated what they can to a Just Giving fund.

“100% of proceeds will be distributed to local Nairn charities and good causes.

“Everyone working on this project has given up their time for free.”

Peter Gibson, Entertainment Manager of Rockaway Productions, Vice Chairman of Nairn BID and lead singer with the Bandstand regular band ‘No Label’ said:

“This is a small way of the local music community expressing our deepest thanks to everyone who has made life a little more bearable during the pandemic.

“They (really) are the Champions of Nairn!”
